Oil Paintings by Max Gurtler

Max Gurtler is a Calgary-based painter with a Bachelor of Design in Photography from Alberta University of the Arts. His practice combines drawing, photography, imagined imagery, and intuitive colour to construct dense symbolic compositions. Approaching painting as a methodical form of divination, he translates concentrated visions into complex visual systems that explore spiritual meaning, interpretation, and the relationship between conscious and unconscious thought.
